Visiting Amber in Kalamazoo

A 3 hour bus ride with the greyhound from Detroit i arrived here in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
I have spent the last week with Amber, who is jet again another close friend from my exchange. It was great seeing her again, meeting her boyfriend and some of her friends. I also got to see Kalamazoo which is city of Universities, so there are alot of students around. And its just a nice place

Amber, and I went to her friends family's Cabin/ cottage. The family built is 60 to 70 years ago. It was only 30 minutes out of Kalamazoo. Located on a small private lake, lake sixteen. It was an amazing Sunday swimming, sunbathing and enjoying being out of town. I love this place, and the Cabin was really fantastic, this was something i really wanted to see in the U.S, a cabin on the lake, and it was quite typical cabin to me.
It was the end of a family reunion weekend, so there was alot of the family there. It reminded me of Tarwin Lower and the Merlino's.

I would love to have spent all summer here.
A game bags - point system, first to 21 win

Amber and I lay on the hammock and spoke of what we would do each day, if we were to spend a relaxing summer at the beautiful location

Their shore... and the cabins roof

On the water trampoline

This was a contraption for packing bags in the super market, quite nifty.

I found this crazy, the amount of magazines and junk

One evening Amber took me to what is Called Art hob (hob is right amber?) It was in this large building, and what is was was many Art Studios, and one Friday each month, the Artists open their studios for the public to come and view and buy their work. Was a great thing, supporting local Art.

Lake Michigan

One evening after Amber finished work, Amber, Paul ( Ambers boyfriend) and I drove about 45 minutes to Lake Michigan. I knew it would be amazingly huge, because Lake Ontario was, and it was one of the smaller great Lakes. So when we arrived, it was still a surprise to see its enormity.

The thing about lakes to me is; when at home, going to the sea, and looking out at the ocean, i know its never ending, well not until the water meets another land. But looking out at the open water of a lake, i know it ends, there is land on the other side, but it is still so BIG and OPEN and INTRIGUING.

We swam, it was windy and the waves were fearocious, but fun, and i liked swimming in beach water that was not salty
We walked through the mozzie infested forest for 10 minutes to reach the beach. This used to be privately owned land, but is now national Park land, so not to many people know of its location.

The Great Lakes - consist of Michigan, Ontario, Superior, Erie, and Huron. They are the largest group of freshwater lakes on earth, holding 20% of the worlds fresh water. They are estimated to have been formed at the end of the last ice age
